The Reverend Barbara Sharp was formally Licensed to the Church on Tuesday 25 April at 7.30pm. The church was full for the Licensing Service, which was conducted by the Bishop of Birkenhead, Bishop David Urquhart ,assisted by the
Archdeacon of Chester and the acting Rural Dean and was attended by over 30
clergy and readers from parishes in the Middlewich Deanery and Bowdon
Deanery. The Northwich Town Mayor, Cllr Lesley Cotterill and County
Councillors Stuart Russell and Ann McEllin attended together with the Head
Teachers from both Lostock and Wincham primary schools. A large number of
parishioners from Revd Sharp's previous church in Timperley and family and
friends were also there to support her. The service was followed by a
splendid buffet supper in the Church Hall.

Revd Sharp has come to us from Timperley Church, Altrincham where she was
the Curate for over 2 years. Before ordination, she worked as a full-time
lay chaplain in the Prison Service. She took an Open University Degree in
the 1980's and trained for the priesthood at Ripon College, Cuddesdon,
Oxford.

She comes highly recommended by the Bishop of Chester and is a good pastor,
teacher and leader or worship. The Churchwardens, members of the PCC and
all the congregation welcome her into our Parish and look forward to her
ministry.

Revd Sharp's first services were held on Sunday 30 April - 9.00am at All
Saints, Lach Dennis and 10.30am at St John's Lostock. The service at St
John's church was a Baptism service, which was a wonderful way to start her
ministry - welcoming a new member to the church. The congregation was
swelled by the 1st Lostock Gralam Scoup group, who celebrated St George's
day a week late, with a Parade from the Church Hall.

St John the Evangelist holds services every Sunday morning at 10.30pm and
evening services are held every other Sunday at 6.30pm. Whilst the morning
service takes place we run a Junior Church club for children of all ages.
Everyone is very welcome to attend any of the services. For more
information please contact Revd Barbara Sharp Tel: 01606 43477."
